Pune News | Irregularities in swimming pool tender; Private company awarded tender for less amount

PUNE: Pune News | An e-tendering process was carried out to operate the swimming pool at the Divisional Sports Complex of Directorate of Sports and Youth Services. A shocking fact has come to light that although the tender was of ₹45 lakh with repairs and maintenance, it was given to a private company for ₹28 lakh.

An e-tendering process had been implemented for operating the swimming pool at the Divisional Sports Complex at Yerawada. Initially, two companies had filed the tenders. However, after one tender was cancelled, the process was repeated again. From January 1 to December 31 2019, when there was a provision of ₹45 lakh, final approval was given for ₹28 lakh.

Similarly, from January 1 to December 31, 2020 when there was a provision of ₹49.5 lakh, approval was given for ₹28.70 lakh, for January 1 to December 31 2021, approval was given for ₹29.20 lakh (provision of ₹54.45 lakh), January 1 to December 31, 2022, approval was given for ₹29.5 lakh (provision of ₹59.85 lakh), January 1 to December 31, 2023, approval was given for ₹30.40 lakh (provision of ₹65.88 lakh). There is a discrepancy of ₹1.28 crore and the government has been deprived of revenue.

The Joint Secretary of Yuva Sena, Vishal Keche, said, “There is a difference between the final amount and e-tendering amount. The government should take action against the concerned company and recover its money.”

District Sports Officer Mahadev Kasgavde, said, “The tendering process has been completed before 2019. An application regarding this has been made in the district sports office. A probe is underway. A report would be submitted later.”
