Pune: Mobile phones of the accused in Sharad Mohol murder have 19,827 audio clips

Pune: Investigation Officer and Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Sunil Tambe, who is handling the Sharad Mohol murder case, told the court that the police conducted a technical analysis of the mobile phones of the prime accused Ganesh Marne, Vitthal Shelar and others.

He said that on the basis of the technical analysis, it has been revealed that the accused had conspired to kill Mohol. As many as six audio clips related to the murder have been found. More people’s involvement is likely to be revealed.

The police custody of the following accused ended on Friday: Ganesh Marne, Vitthal Shelar, Sahil alias Munna Polekar, Namdev Kangude, Amar Kangude, Chandrakant Shelke, Vinayak Gavhankar, Vitthal Kisan Gandle and Ramdas Marne. They were produced before the court of Special Judge VR Kachare. The police did a technical analysis of the mobile phones of the accused. They found 19,827 audio clips in the cell phones of the accused. Out of these, six clips are related to the murder case. Abhijit Mankar, who had provided a new sim card and money to the accused, was arrested recently.

The case needed to be investigated thoroughly as the involvement of more people is suspected. Therefore, Public Prosecutor Adv Pramod Bombatkar and ACP Tambe demanded an extension to the police custody of the accused.

Adv Rahul Deshmukh, Adv Ketan Kadam and Adv Sharad Bhoite represented the respondents. They opposed the police custody of the accused. They argued that the reasons given for an extension of the police custody were old. They said that the police custody of the accused was not needed to analyse the audio clips and for their interrogation. After hearing both sides, the Special Court extended the police custody till February 15.
