Pune: Minor Accused and His Family Face Legal Action for Molestation of a Minor Girl; Police Invoke POCSO

Pune: For molestation of a minor girl and for verbal abuse of her parents, the Hadapsar police booked the juvenile accused and his mother and sister under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. This incident took place between January 21 and January 26 at Takale Nagar in Manjari Budruk.

This action was taken after a 15-year-old victim girl living in Shewalwadi filed a complaint against the accused at Hadapsar police station. The police informed that the accused and the victim girl have been knowing each other.

For the past few days, the accused has been constantly chasing the girl whenever she walked out of the house. One day, he chased a woman when she was filling a water outside of her home and asked her for her mobile number and Instagram ID, saying he wanted to talk to her. When the girl refused to give him a number, the accused continued his chasing and started harassing her.

Fed up with the constant harassment of the accused, the girl told this entire incident to one of her relatives. Meanwhile, when the minor was seated in the mill near her house, the accused came there and started flirting with her. When the victim’s relative vehemently admonished him, the enraged accused beat the relative of the girl, abusing him.

However, when the girl and her family members tried to intervene, the accused’s mother and sister came there, and they abused the girl’s family members and threatened them.

Following the incident, the accused filed a complaint against the accused at Hadapsar police station. Taking note of it, the police initiated an inquiry against the accused and his mother and sister under IPC 354(d), 323, and 504 and the POCSO Act. Hadapsar police are conducting further investigations.
