Pune Metro | Puneri Metro Work to Resume Soon As Traffic Police Give Green Signal For Barricading

Pune : Pune Metro | Puneri Metro’s Hinjewadi-Shivajinagar route, which has been closed since last month, will start soon. The obstruction in the work of the Metro has finally been removed as Deputy Commissioner of Police, Traffic Branch, Vijay Kumar Magar, has given permission for barricading Ganeshkhind road. Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority (PMRDA) is going to repair the road in Agriculture College Chowk and start the metro work in two to three days.

PMRDA had sought permission from traffic police for barricading at Krishi Vidyalaya Chowk for Metro work. Two meetings of the G-20 working group were held in Pune in the month of June. Along with this, the Palkhi ceremony also proceeded from Pune. Due to this, barricading was not allowed for metro work. Even after that, as the traffic police did not allow the barricading, the metro work was stopped on the Ganeshkhind road. Now the traffic police have given the permission for barricading and the work will start.

Vijayakumar Magar, Deputy Commissioner of Police, Traffic Branch, inspected the work of metro on Ganeshkhind road. Only three meters of road will remain open for traffic due to metro work at Krishi College Chowk. So he suggested to level the road chamber in this square and repair the road. Magar told the PMRDA officials that the work should be started without obstructing the traffic in the square. According to the sources, the work of metro will start in two to three days.

10 to 15 days delay in completion of work

Hinjewadi to Shivajinagar metro line is 23 km long. A double-decker flyover will be constructed between Savitribai Phule Pune Vidyapeeth Chowk and E-Square on the same route. The length of this bridge will be 1.7 km. This flyover is going to be part of the Metro works. As barricading was not allowed, the metro work has been stalled since June, so the completion time may be affected by 10 to 15 days, sources explained.

“Deputy Commissioner of Traffic Police has given permission for barricading for Metro work at Krishi College Chowk. This work will start soon after barricading. This work will be done without causing much disruption to traffic,” said R. L. Thange, Executive Engineer, PMRDA
