Pune: Hinjewadi police seize 2,200 litres of country liquor; 11 persons charged

Pimpri: Hinjewadi Police seized 2,200 litres of country liquor from Dattawadi and registered a case against 11 persons, including two women for selling the moonshine liquor to constructions workers in Dattawadi, Hinjewadi area.

Police received information about the sale of country liquor near Shivanjali colony in Dattawadi. Accordingly, the police raided the house and found a cellar under a temple where the liquor was kept.

When the police first raided the place, they did not find any traces of alcohol being sold. The police questioned the accused Jyoti Avinash Marwadi, Payal Yeshu Marwadi and Avinash Marwadi but did not get any information.

At that time, the police found a strange thing about the temple. Upon moving the temple from its place, police discovered a large basement underneath. The police recovered 2,200 litres of country liquor from the basement below the temple. The accused used this basement to carry out their operations, the police said.
