Pune: Female Passenger Reports Molestation by Uber Driver in Lonikand Police Station

Pune: An Uber driver from Pune misbehaved and molested a female passenger on Wednesday near BAIF Road. This disturbing incident was revealed after a female passenger filed a police complaint at the Lonikand police station. This incident took place on Wednesday, March 13, between 8 and 8.15 p.m. on the road near BAIF Company.

As per the information, a 25-year-old girl shifting her house, and therefore she was taking her household goods from her old house to a new one. On Wednesday, for this shifting, the plaintiff girl booked a cab of Wagner car (MH 12 VT 0262) from the Uber app and was shifting her goods through it.

Meanwhile, in one of the rounds of goods shifting, the accused taxi driver, identified as Amrish Trivedi, inappropriately touched the plaintiff. Initially, the plaintiff ignored it, thinking it might have been done unknowingly. However, after that, the accused took the car at some distance on BAIF Road and molested the young woman, attempting to outrage her modesty.

After a complaint was filed by the victim woman in this case, Lonikand police took a serious note of this incident and registered the concerned accused under Section 354A of the Indian penal code. Further investigation in this case is being conducted by Police Sub-Inspector V. S. Kedari.
