Pune: District Consumer forum summons a movers and packers company over non-payment of dues

The Additional District Consumer Grievance Redressal Commission has summoned a Packer and Movers company for misplacing a customer’s parcel. Chairman of the commission Jayant Deshmukh, members Shubhangi Dunakhe and Anil Javalekar have ordered the company to pay Rs 16,000 of the missing items within 45 days. An additional Rs 2,000 has been asked to be paid to the plaintiff.

Mopedrakumar had lodged a complaint against Sobir Singh, packers and movers in the consumer forum. The complainant is working as a software engineer. He wanted to send his belongings from Mundhwa to Dhamatri in Chhattisgarh. It was decided to pay eight thousand rupees for that. The Packers Company packed the complainant’s parcel in nine boxes and sent it from Pune on 17 August 2019. At that time, it was said that the parcel would reach Dhamatri in 4 to 6 days. But the parcel arrived directly a month later, with two boxes less.

When the complainant called the company about this, the company said that his parcel had gone to another customer in Nagpur and that they will return the boxes soon. The company clarified that if the boxes are not returned in time, they will pay him back. However, when the boxes did not reach the complainant, he contacted the person in Nagpur and got to know that his boxes had not been with there. On contacting the company time and again and not getting a solid response, the complainant lodged a complaint with Consumer Forum.
