Pune: DCP Sambhaji Kadam Suspended Female Police Constable Over Year-Long Unauthorised Absence

Pune: On Friday, February 16, Deputy Commissioner of Police Zone 3, Sambhaji Kadam, issued an immediate suspension notice against Police Constable Pooja Dnyaneshwar Wadekar. This action has been taken by the Deputy Commissioner, as Wadekar has been absent from her duty for the past one and a half years without any formal permission.

Woman police constable Pooja Wadekar has been absent on duty without formal permission since August 2022. She has been served repeated notices over this period and was also asked to attend duty through WhatsApp. However, she did not respond to any of its notices. Furthermore, no formal reason has been given by Wadekar on this issue so far.

Therefore, Wadekar has been suspended from government service for irresponsible and undisciplined behaviour on duty and for absenting herself from duty without the prior permission of superiors.

The suspension notice also asks her to take the Sustenance Fund by giving a certificate to the commission that she will not earn from any kind of private job or business during the suspension period. Also, it has been stated that if she wants to leave the Police Headquarters in Shivajinagar during the suspension period, she must obtain the prior permission of the Deputy Commissioner of Police Headquarters. She also needs to mandatorily attend the Reserve Police Inspector, Police Headquarters, during the suspension period.
