Pune Crime | Youth held for carrying unlicensed pistol in Sinhagad road area

Pune : NpNews24 Online Pune Crime | The Dattawadi police have arrested a youth, who was carrying an unlicensed pistol and posted a photo of a notorious goon as his WhatsApp status. A country-made pistol and two live cartridges have been seized from his possession.

 

The police took this action on the footpath along the road from Vrundavan Nursery to Dattawadi. The arrested has been identified as Chandrakant alias Balu Tulshiram Mane (20), a resident of Narhe, hailing from Sakol village in Latur district. An offence has been registered against him at the Dattawadi police station.

 

A police team was patrolling when police personnel Shivaji Kshirsagar, Kundan Shinde and Rahul Olekar got a tip-off that a youth is spreading terror among his friends and acquaintances by posting a photo as his WhatsApp status of deceased notorious goon from Hadapsar Sujit Varma. They also came to know that he was carrying a pistol when he was present at a brawl among his friends at Panmala area. He was standing on the footpath in Sinhagad Road area. The police laid a trap and arrested him. They frisked him and found the firearm and ammunition. Thus, valuables worth Rs 40,500 were seized from him.

 

He was a police aspirant

The accused arrived in Pune from Latur to participate in a police recruitment drive. Earlier, he had tried to get recruited in Army. He received training some months ago in a private academy in Vishrantwadi.

 

However, he fell in bad company and got the pistol for spreading terror in Panmala area. The police are investigating whether he had used the pistol in any earlier offences, who are his accomplices and how he procured the firearm.

 

This action was taken under the guidance of CP Amitabh Gupta, Joint CP Dr Ravindra Shisve, Addl CP Rajendra Dahale, DCP Purnima Gaikwad, ACP Sunil Pawar, Senior PI Krishna Indalkar and PI Vijay Khomane. PSI Swapnil Lohar, Chandrakant Kamthe, police personnel Kundan Shinde, Raju Jadhav, Vishnu Sutar, Amit Surve, Rahul Olekar, Shivaji Kshirsagar, Akshaykumar Wable, Navnath Bhosale, Bharat Asmar, Pramod Bhosale and Sharad Raut took part in the action.
