Pune Crime News | Prisoners indulge in fighting in Yerawada Central Prison; FIR registered against 16 prisoners
PUNE : Pune Crime News | Members of two gangs who used to fight on roads, assaulted each other in the Yerawada Jail by using stones and kicking each other. An FIR has been registered against Prakash Shantaram Yewle, Vijay Chandrakant Virkar, Sachin Shankar Dalvi, Mukesh Sunil Salunkhe, Ganesh Waghmare, Aditya Nanaji Chaudhary, Kiran Ramesh Galphade, Akash Uttam Shingare, Vishal Ramdhan Kharat, Rupesh Prakash Akhade, Rohit Chandrakant Jujgar, Shubham Ganpati Rathod, Anurag Parashuram Kamble, Mehbub Farid Shaikh. These criminals are members of Ravan gang, Chikhali gang and Warje Ramnagar gang.
The fighting took place on Monday from 10 am to 10.30 am in barack number eight in circle three area.
Prison Officer Hemant Govindrao Ingole has lodged a complaint (417/23) at the Yerawada police station. The capacity of Yerawada Central Prison is 2,500 but at present, three times the number of prisoners have been kept there. The number of judicial prisoners is maximum. Since more prisoners are kept in a barack, there is always a tussle between them.
The prisoners assaulted each other with stones and kicked each other. Some prisoners have received minor injuries. The Yerawada police have registered an FIR and PSI Kate is probing the case.
