PUNE : Pune Crime News | A senior citizen, who had come to see her son’s new house from her village, had been murdered on the morning of July 6 at Jijau Housing Society at Talwade. The unit 1 of Pimpri Chinchwad Crime Branch has apprehended a minor boy who has admitted killing the woman to avenge an insult.

The deceased has been identified as Shobha Jagannath Amte (68), a resident of Talwade and hailing from Beed district. Her son Popat Jagannath Amte (38), a resident of Talwade, has lodged a complaint at the Chikhali police station. Popat’s mother used to stay in her village. Popat stays in Pimpri Chinchwad for many years and had recently purchased a new house.

On June 23, his mother had come to Rupee Nagar to see his new house and later, she fell sick. She had been admitted to a hospital. She had been discharged a few days ago. On July 6, Popat had gone out for some work and Shobha was alone in her house. From 11.15 am to 11.45 am, some unidentified persons hit her on her head and knifed her later which led to her death. A probe in this case was being carried out by Crime Branch unit 1. The police apprehended a minor boy staying near Popat’s house. When he was questioned, he admitted committing the murder.

The minor’s father and Popat Amte are friends and hence, the minor used to visit Popat’s house. However, once, Popat’s mother had pushed him out of the house. The minor boy was angry because he had been insulted in front of everyone. To avenge the insult, he hit Shobha on her head when she was alone and killed her.
