Pune Crime News | Family Outing Turns Tragic: 20-Year-Old Woman Dies in Drowning Incident at Pune’s Hadshi Lake

Pune: Pune Crime News | During a family picnic at Hadshi lake in Mulshi taluka of Pune district, a tragic incident unfolded as a 20-year-old woman drowned on Monday afternoon.

The deceased has been identified as Vaishnavi Balasaheb Ube, a resident of Mulshi, according to the Pune rural police. As per the Paud police, Vaishnavi, accompanied by her two elder sisters and their spouses, had visited the Ekvira temple in Lonavala on Monday morning. Following their temple visit, the group proceeded to Kashig village, located on the banks of Hadshi lake, for a picnic around 1:30 pm.

Based on preliminary information, it was revealed that Vaishnavi and the four others ventured into the lake. Vaishnavi was leading the group when they encountered a sudden increase in the depth of the water. Unfortunately, she stepped into the deeper area and began to drown, as described by a Paud police officer. “Her two sisters and their husbands raised an alarm as they rushed to rescue her.” While the two sisters managed to stay afloat and returned to a shallower section, Vaishnavi remained out of sight, the officer explained.

Upon receiving alerts from family members and onlookers, authorities initiated a search operation for Vaishnavi. The fire department of the Pune Metropolitan Regional Development Authority (PMRDA) was later called in to assist with the search efforts.
