Pune Cantonment Vidhan Sabha | Special Voter Registration Campaign in Pune Cantonment Vidhan Sabha Constituency

Pune: Pune Cantonment Vidhan Sabha | In an effort to ensure maximum participation in the democratic process, the Election Commission of India has announced a special voter registration campaign in all housing societies falling under the jurisdiction of the 214 Cantonment Vidhan Sabha constituencies. This two-day campaign, scheduled for Saturday 22nd and Sunday 23rd July, is part of the special brief revision program of electoral rolls.

The special summary program of electoral rolls was initiated with the qualifying date set as 1st January 2024. During the period from 21st July to 21st August, center-level officials will visit houses for polling verification in the constituency. This exercise aims to ensure the accuracy and completeness of the voter lists.

Under this program, three types of forms will be used. Sample Number 6 will be utilized to add the names of voters who are currently not listed in the electoral rolls. Sample Number 7 will be used to remove the names of deceased and permanently migrated voters from the list. Lastly, Sample Number 8 will facilitate corrections in the voter list or voter ID cards.

To be eligible for voter registration, an individual must have completed 18 years of age on the eligibility date and should provide proof of residence. Acceptable documents for proof of residence include Aadhaar Card, Driving License, Indian Passport, or a xerox copy of the first page of a Nationalized Bank statement. Proof of age can be established using Aadhaar Card, Driving License, Indian Passport, School Leaving Certificate, or PAN Card. One recent color passport size photograph with a white background and a registered tenancy agreement, in case of tenants, are also required.

For Sample No. 7, which deals with the deletion of names from the voter list, a death certificate is necessary in the case of deceased voters. In the case of married women who have permanently settled in another constituency, proof of the change in address, such as an in-law’s residence, is required.

To facilitate corrections in the electoral roll, documents such as Aadhaar Card, Driving Licence, Indian Passport, or a xerox copy of the first page of a Nationalized Bank statement are needed for Form No. 8. If there has been a change of residence within the same constituency, a document mentioning the change of address is required.

For the convenience of new voters, an online registration option is available at https://voters.eci.gov.in. Using the Voter Service Portal and the Voter Helpline App, new names can be registered easily.

Siddharth Bhandare, the Deputy Collector and Electoral Registration Officer of the 214 Cantonment Vidhan Sabha Constituency, has appealed to citizens to actively participate in this special inspection program. He encourages new voters to take advantage of this opportunity to register and exercise their democratic right.
