Pune: Adolescent Girl From Bibvewadi Committed Suicide Aftermath of Constant Harassment for Marriage by Boyfriend

Pune: A heart-breaking incident has come to light in the Bibvewadi area, where a 20-year-old girl committed suicide by hanging herself in her own house. According to the primary reports, the girl committed suicide after being distressed by the demands of marriage from her boyfriend.

This incident took place on January 21, 2024, at around 5.30 p.m. in the Bibvewadi area of Uppar Indiranagar. In this regard, the deceased girl’s father, Santosh Gokul Londhe, 45, lodged a complaint against the girl’s boyfriend at Bibvewadi police station.

The deceased girl is identified as Utkarsha Santosh Londhe. A 20-year-old Utkarsha was learning at a private college nearby her house and had an affair with Aditya Chandrakant Dhaware, who was the original resident of Kem village in Solapur.

According to the complaint, Utkarsha and Aditya had been in an affair for the last two years, and their parents knew about it. Utkarsha, though she wanted to get married to Aditya, told Aditya that they would only get married once Utkarsha completed her education and Aditya got a job.

Meanwhile, Aditya’s mother passed away due to illness. According to the custom at Aditya’s house, if a person does not get married in the same year after the death of a family member, they cannot get married for three years. Therefore, Aditya started forcing Utkarsha to get married to her this year.

In spite of having Utkarsha speak against marrying him too early, Aditya persisted and started harassing and forcing her to marry. According to the complaint, Aditya also mentally tortured Utkarsha. Distressed by the mounting pressure of marriage from Aditya, Utkarsha decided to end her life.

Accordingly, on January 21, she committed suicide by hanging the sari attached to the fan in the kitchen of her house. After that, her father lodged a complaint against Aditya at the Bibvewadi police station on Tuesday, April 2. Accordingly, Bibvewadi police booked Aditya Dhaware under IPC 306. Meanwhile, further investigation in this case is being carried out by Assistant Police Inspector Vidya Sawant.
