Policemen injured after being hit by beef traders

Two policemen had a narrow escape when beef traders tried to run over them in Dighi in the wee hours of Monday. The accused persons left beef meat and fled after being confronted by local villagers.

According to police, around 3 am they had received a phone call about cows being slaughtered in the open space behind Pragati Hotel near Dighi magazine chowk. The two policemen went to check when the accused persons tried to run over them. Meanwhile, villagers had started gathering and confronted the accused persons who fled after abandoning their SUV and beef.

The injured policemen are undergoing treatment.
