Over 3000 runners participate in AFMC marathon 2018

The second edition of the Armed Forces Medical College(AFMC) Pune Marathon was held on Sunday at AFMC. The event comprised of timed competitive races Marathon (42.2km), half marathon (21.1km) and 10km and a 5km fun run. More than 3000 runners from across the country participated. This edition was certified by Athletic federation of India and AIMS, an international body certifying road races across the world.

The event saw an enthusiastic participation comprising service personnel, veterans, families and a large numbers of civilians. Elite runners from the services also participated in the marathon.

This event is likely to become an annual event in the national marathon calendar.

The highlight of the event was energetic participation by the students and faculty of the AFMC and a large number of doctors from the Armed Forces Medical Services.

The Commandant and the Dean AFMC also ran in the event to inspire the younger generation.
