Police Inspector duped of Rs 6.2 lakhs by crook imitating MLA Mete’s voice

The police inspector in-charge f Shevgaon police station under Ahmednagar district police was allegedly duped of Rs 6.2 lakhs by two men including one who imitated voice of MLC Vinayak Mete and asked the inspector give the money.

After realising that he has been cheated, inspector Govind Omase has filed FIR against Navnath Harichandra Isarwade, a resident of Gadevadi in Shevgaon taluka of Ahmednagar district, and an unknown person.

According to police, the unidentified accused used to call the inspector on phone and ask him to give money to Isarwade, who claimed to be Shiv Sangram Sanghatana’s taluka president and relative of Mete, who is founder of Shiv Sangram Sanghatana. The inspector didn’t suspect and gave money to Isarwade, totaling Rs 6.2 lakhs. He recently learnt about the fraud and lodged police complaint.
