PMC Bank Scam : Hitendra-Bhai Thakur’s assets worth Rs 34 crore seized

Mumbai : The ED has taken big action against Vasai-Virar MLAs Hitendra Thakur and Bhai Thakur in the thousands of crores of PMC bank scam cases. Property worth Rs 34.36 crore belonging to their Viva group has been seized. These include flats, offices, farmhouses etc. in Mumbai, Thane and Virar. This property belongs to Jayendra alias Bhai Thakur and his brother MLA Hitendra Thakur.

An ED source has said that the Thakur brothers will be called soon for questioning in the case. The ED has registered money laundering cases for illegally taking loans from PMC bank and misusing them. After this, last month raids were conducted on the Viva Group office as well as the houses of Thakur brothers. Managing director Mehul Thakur and director Madan Chaturvedi were arrested on 23 January.

Thakur’s property in Andheri has been seized based on information received during the raid. According to ED sources, the property in the Caledonia building in Andheri East is built by MAC Star. MAC is a subsidiary of Star Housing Development Infrastructure Limited (HDIL). HDIL is the largest debtor in PMC bank fraud. The ED investigation revealed that HDIL was a collusion between MAC Star and Viva Group.

Investigation revealed that the Viva group had given 37 checks to Mac Star. Rakesh Wadhawan gave a large amount to Mehul Thakur, director of Viva Group through HDIL.
