Pimpri: Harassed for dowry, woman ends life

Pimpri: A married woman reportedly attempted and died by suicide in Punawale after her husband and in-laws harassed her for dowry, Hinjewadi Police said.

Husband Rahul Devram Patidar (resident of Gurgaon, Haryana, Madhya Pradesh) has been arrested and a case has been registered against the woman’s mother-in-law. The woman’s brother has filed a complaint in this regard. The accused constantly demanded dowry from the plaintiff’s sister after the marriage.

Failing to pay the money and fed up with the constant harassment by her in-laws, she attempted and died by suicide in Venkatesh Emporia Society in Punawale on Thursday (January 21). Both, her husband and mother-in-law have been charged for inciting her to attempt suicide. And Hinjewadi Police are further investigating the case.
