Pimpri-Chinchwad police initiative to reduce gap between police and people

Police commissioner RK Padmanabhan has started Phone-A-Friend and Police at Your Doorstep schemes to reduce the gap between people and police.

The police personnel have ordered to remain at the chowks instead of to reach any spot immediately.

“People are afraid to go to the police, because of lack of confidence. Only after trusting people’s confidence in the police, it is possible to maintain peace and law and order in the city. Different programs are being organized to build such trust among the people. The police should not be in the chowki or police station but on the road”, he added.

Under ‘Phone A Friend’ scheme police team will reach the spot as soon as the incident or accident is reported. Police will reach respond to every call and control of crime will increase people’s trust. Simultaneously, ‘Police Your Door’ scheme is being started, under which complaint box will be kept in the big society, township, company and other places of the city. This does not require people to go to police post or police station for their complaint. The written complaint received in the complaint box will be seen on a scheduled day and the complainant will be informed about the steps taken for its redressal.

In order to improve the traffic, the challan notices are being sent to offenders homes and policemen will go to their homes to recover the fine.
