Pimpri-Chinchwad police arrested two engineers for allegedly demanding Rs five lakhs extortion money

Wakad – The Pimpri-Chinchwad police officials have arrested two engineers for allegedly demanding Rs five lakhs extortion money for not kidnapping daughter of a woman from a well to do family in Wakad.
Police have identified the accused persons as Rohit Vinod Yadav (28) of Delhi and Abhinva Satish Mishra (27) of Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh. The woman has filed a case against them with Wakad police station.
According to police, both of are engineers and worked in a BPO in Delhi. They spent huge amount of money to maintain their high profile lifestyle, which landed them in debt. They were not able to pay their credit card bills also. Hence, they planned the extortion bid. They got the phone number of the woman from social media website and started calling her for Rs 5 lakhs and threatened to kidnap her 21-year-old daughter if the money was not paid.

The woman lodged a police complaint on September 19. The cops started planning how to nab them as they were calling from public telephone booth. Later, they asked the woman to tell accused persons to come and take away the money. When the accused persons came here on Saturday night, police arrested them in Wakad.
Cops had laid a trap and had disguised themselves as vegetable vendors, fruit sellers as well doctors to nab them.
Pimpri-Chinchwad police commissioner RK Padmanabhan, Additional CP Makarand Ranade, DCP Namrata Patil, ACP Shridhar Jadhav and senior PI Satish Mane supervised the investigation team which included API Harish Mane, policemen MR Nadaf and Ramesh Gaikwad.
