Philipines crowned Miss Universe 2018 title 4th time, India fails to reach Top 20!

NP NEWS 24 ONLINE- Pia Wurtzbach was crowned as Miss Universe 2015 and after which Philipines yet again bagged the crown of Miss Universe 2018.

Catriona Elisa Gray from Philipines has been crowned as Miss Universe 2018. She looked stunning in an elegant shiny red gown with a thigh-high slit.

She was crowned by Demi Leigh Nel-Peters who hails from South Africa at a Gala ceremony in which South Africa and Venezuela won the titles of first and second runner-up respectively where India’s Nehal Chudasama was unable to reach Top 20.

India has not been able to win the title after Lara Dutta who was crowned as Miss Universe 2000. Earlier, Sushmita Sen won the title in 1994 From India.

The United States is the highest to win the title most number of times. Since 1954, it has been able to win the title a total of eight times.

Gray’s this reply to the question made her win the title:

She was asked, “Which is the most important lesson you have learnt in your life and how would you apply it in your time as Miss Universe?”.

To which she said, “I work a lot in the slums of Manila and life there is very poor and sad. I have always taught myself to look for the beauty in it, to look for the beauty in the faces of the children, and I would bring this aspect as a Miss Universe to see situations with a silver lining and to asses where I could give something and provide something.”
