Panvel: Mother-daughter duo killed, accused absconding

Panvel: A mother and daughter were murdered on Friday in Dapoli village in Panvel taluka after the family refused to marry their daughter to the accused, the police said. The accused is absconding after killing the mother-daughter duo.

The deceased have been identified as Surekha Walkhade (mother) and Sujata Walkhade (daughter). Surekha Walkhade’s husband was also injured in the incident and is undergoing treatment at a hospital in Panvel.

According to the police, the accused had expressed his desire to marry Surekha Walkhade’s 18-year-old daughter. Raged by this, the accused broke into the Walkhade’s home on Friday and killed both the bother and daughter and injured Sujata’s father. The accused fled from the scene after killing the duo, the police said.

After getting information about this incident, Panvel city police rushed to the spot and got information about the incident. The police are currently searching for the absconding accused and further investigating the case.
