Pakistan to start bus service in PoK, India raises an objection

NEW DELHI: NP NEWS 24 ONLINE–  India has raised an objection on the bus service which is to be started between Kashmir and China under the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor Project(CPECP) by the Pakistan authorities.

Pakistan’s local media said that one private company is going to launch a bus service from November 3 onwards. This service is going to be started in the aisle and India has been constantly protesting on this from the start.

India told Pakistan that, in the year 1963, the boundary agreement was not agreed to by the country and in the meanwhile, the bus service in PoK started by Pakistan is an injustice to India’s sovereignty and violates territorial integrity. India has also registered its protest that the route of the bus service passes through PoK which is an Indian territory.

External Affairs Ministry spokesperson Raveesh Kumar said in this regard, “We have lodged strong protests with China and Pakistan on the proposed bus service that will operate through Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir under the so-called China-Pakistan Economic Corridor”.

He also added that “India’s consistent and well-known position ‘so-called China-Pakistan boundary agreement’ is illegal and invalid and has never been recognised by the Government of India. Therefore, any such bus service through Pakistan Occupied Jammu & Kashmir will be a violation of India’s sovereignty and territorial integrity”.

The local Pakistani media said that this bus service will cost 13 thousand rupees while going and while returning 23 thousand rupees. Pakistan’s private company said on this that Pakistan situated Lahore to Kashgar bus will run four days in a week. People have already started booking tickets for the trip.

The CPEC is a project launched in the year 2015 which includes linking of roads, railways and energy projects between China and Pakistan.
