NRI couple goes skiing in saree and dhoti; netizens are impressed

An NRI couple in the US decided to go skiing in Welch village, a popular skiing haunt in Minnesota, in a saree and dhoti. The Minnesota-based duo recently posted their skiing clips in which Divya Maiya can be seen wearing a saree and Madhu donning a dhoti. The couple’s skiing video went viral for their traditional ski gear. They took the video in the Welch Village, a popular skiing haunt in Minnesota, USA.

Maiya took to Instagram to share the video of their adventure. The video opens to show them adjusting their skiing gears and getting ready to travel over snow. While Maiya is seen wearing a blue-coloured saree, Madhu is in a dhoti.

“We needed to do something really crazy today to distract ourselves!” Divya Maiya wrote while sharing the clip.

The couple was inspired by fashion blogger Masoom Minawala Mehta. Last month, she shared a video of herself skiing in a saree in Switzerland. Divya and Madhu followed the footstep and ditched the customary skiing gear and switched to traditional attires.

“My partner in crime for everything silly and stupid.  And thank you for all the love pouring in from everywhere for the Skiing in Saree videos,” Divya wrote in another post on Instagram.

The video is a glowing testament to how women are breaking down barriers while being rooted in tradition.
