Northeast region of Nation witnessed tremors of Earthquake

When the north east region of India was resting in peace, maybe having a cup of tea, suddenly their peace was disturbed when they felt sudden jerks! As, various parts of the nation felt tremors of earthquake specially the northeastern regions on 12 September, Wednesday.

An earthquake  measuring a magnitude of 5.5 on the Richter Scale hit various parts of Assam. In Assam, near Kokrajar district, moderate tremors were felt at around 10.20 am. The jerks of the earthquake were at a depth of 13 kilometers.

Whereas, strong tremors were felt in parts of Bihar, West Bengal, Sikkim, Nagaland, Manipur, Arunachal Pradesh, Bangladesh and other neighboring states in the north-east today. Earthquake measuring 5.5 on Richter scale  Hits Assam, Tremors Felt In areas of west Bengal including Siliguri and Bihar.

Area which witnessed earthquake

In Bihar, earthquake tremors were felt in Patna as well as parts of Kishanganj, Purnea and Katihar According to the Central Seismological Observatory in Shillong  an earthquake of magnitude 3.1 occurred at 5.43 am epicentered in Jhajjar, Haryana while an earthquake of magnitude 4.6 on the Richter Scale occurred at 5.15 am in Jammu and Kashmir.

In some areas, a panic situation was created, some could not feel the tremors and later on realized that something is wrong whereas, some immediately felt the tremors and took necessary steps realizing that its an earthquake.

There were no immediate reports of casualties or damage to property anywhere as of last updating this report.

Its  not for the first time that the northeast parts of India felt tremors of earthquake, as it witnesses such tremors very often due its hilly areas.
