No Respite For Common Man, Surge in Petrol-Diesel Prices For the 12th Consecutive Day

New Delhi : While the entire country has been fighting a battle against the coronavirus for the past several months and the country’s economy was affected due to coronavirus lockdown for months, on the other hand, the price of petrol and diesel has been increased for the 12th consecutive day. Today once again the price of petrol has been increased by 53 paisa per liter and diesel by 64 paise per liter. After the introduction of new prices, the price of petrol in Delhi has gone up to Rs 77.81 per liter, while the price of diesel has gone up to Rs 76.43 per liter. On Wednesday, petrol price was increased by 55 paise per liter and diesel by 69 paise per liter.

At the same time, expressing concern over the increase in the price of petrol and diesel in the Corona crisis, Congress President Sonia Gandhi wrote a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and appealed to him that they don’t increase the prices of petrol and diesel. In the letter written by Sonia Gandhi, it has been said that it is the duty and responsibility of the government to reduce the suffering of the people and not to put people in more difficulty.

In the letter, Sonia Gandhi has written that in the fight against Corona, India has faced health, economy, social challenges. I am very concerned that this problem is persistent since the month of March, in such a situation, the government has taken an insensitive decision to continuously increase the price of petrol and diesel. Your government wants to get a revenue of 260000 crores, but you have been wrongly suggested that the excise duty of petrol and diesel be increased. I do not see any argument in this regard that the government should even consider such a suggestion when the economy of the country is completely crumbled due to Corona. Millions of people have become unemployed, people do not have food, business and industry are going through a period of great recession.
