NID faculty member expelled after being alleged of sexual harassment

After cases of sexual harassment in which many directors, faculties and students of various institutes were allegations of sexual harassment by the junior students of institutes. Complaints of various instances of #MeToo were received from famous institutes like Symbiosis, FTII, etc.

Now, in a similar case, a faculty member of National Institute of Design(NID), Ahmedabad was expelled of the Institute after being alleged of sexual harassment.

According to a statement released by the institute, it said, “Undesirable and out of syllabus references to sexuality and sexual relations and behaviour cost him a job.”

The accused, Krishnesh Mehta was earlier accused of sexual harassment by various students and this was the second time he has been accused of such.

The NID director, Pradyumna Vyas said on this regard that Mehta was issued a showcase notice first. He said, “His services were terminated after we found his response unsatisfactory. He, however, chose to resign.”

According to sources, the alleged was a senior faculty member of product design discipline and the officials informed this after a mail was being circulated through the Institute of taking an appropriate action against the accused. The officials said, this has been going on since a long time that is since before October, but the action was not discussed in public keeping in mind the Sexual Harassment of women at Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal) Act, 2013.

Now, notably, NID is one of the topmost design institutes of Ahmedabad. But, you never know what is hidden deep as a secret as the sexual harassment cases against women are coming up forward after the #MeToo campaign. Now, nobody is aware of what might come up next and shock you.
