NEET, JEE Exam 2020: Exam Day Guidelines And SOPs Released By NTA

New Delhi: NTA has released the exam day guidelines that students, parents, and exam authorities need to follow for smooth conduct of the entrance tests amid the on-going pandemic situation. Yesterday, there were rumours about Education Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal ‘Nishank’ holding an emergency meeting to address the issue of postponement of the entrance exams.

However, officials from the ministry and NTA have confirmed that Govt is steadfast in its stand on holding the examinations and ensuring that future of students is not jeopardized any further. In line with this, now the National Testing Agency has released a detailed safety plan consisting of advisories, guidelines and protocols that are to be followed by the NEET and JEE Main 2020 exam day.

The National Testing Agency has released a three stage exam advisory, which will cover the complete examination cycle and ensure complete safety of candidates and staff members from COVID-19 and also complete the holding of exams in a smooth and seamless manner. The three stage guidelines cover pre-examination, during examination and post-examination activities for holding of JEE Main and NEET 2020 Exams.

Pre-Examination Guidelines:

Allocation of Exam Centre and Seating Arrangement: As part of the pre-examination preparations, the apex testing agency has allotted examination centres to the students as per their preference and also altered the seating arrangements at the examination centres in a way that it adheres to social distancing norms completely.

List of Permitted Items:

During the pre-examination stage, candidates appearing for the JEE Main / NEET 2020 exams would be provided their exam admit cards in a staggered manner. The admit cards would also consist of the exam guidelines and the list of items that are permitted inside the exam centre that will help prepare candidates mentally for the exam day.

Exam Centre Location Link:

Moreover, link will also be sent to candidates along with the centre’s location to help them reach the centre easily and avoid any last-minute hassles for students.

Training of Staff Members:

All the staff members including exam invigilators, who would be involved in the holding of the exams, would be provided proper training prior to holding of the exams. The training would cover all the activities and tasks that are to be performed by them on the examination day.

COVID-19 Supplies:

Another important aspect that is being looked into as part of pre-examination preparation is inventory management for availability of necessary things including face masks, gloves and other supplies. All exam centres have been asked to ensure availability of additional gloves, masks, sanitizers, spray bottles etc for effective usage by the staff and candidates.

Preparation of Exam Centre:

One day prior to the exam, the exam centres would undergo complete sanitization. This would also include proper placement of masks and sanitizers everywhere across the centres.

Entry of Candidates:

On the day of the exams, candidates would be allowed entry inside the exam centre only after authentication against valid admit cards. Students would undergo thermal scan. However, no thumb impression would be taken from the applicants.

Videography of Exam:

During the exam, at all exam centres, mandatory videography of the exam period would be done.

Post Exam Guidelines Exit Policy:

Unlike previous years, when candidates were allowed to enter and exit the exam rooms as per their choice; for 2020 session, students will be allowed to leave the exam hall one person at a time. This is being done to ensure complete social distancing.

No Overcrowding at Exam Centres:

After exiting the exam room, students will not be allowed to overcrowd the campus; instead they will be required to exit the exam centre as quickly as possible. Exam Centre Incharge have been asked to place ropes and make a proper pathway using which candidates will be required to exit the exam centre without venturing or overcrowing.

Misc:

Lastly, no refreshments would be provided to the invigilators and they need to bring their own eatables. Records of all exam functionaries would also be maintained in the system for future reference and traceability by NTA.
