Nawaz Sharif Daughter Maryam Nawaz detained

NPnews24 online, New Delhi: Daughter of former Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and PML-N Vice President Maryam Nawaz was detained by Pakistan’s anti-corruption watchdog.

She was taken into custody by the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) outside Kot Lakhpat Jail in Lahore where she went to meet her father.

She was summoned by the NAB in the Chaudhary Sugar Mills case at 11 am on Thursday but she did not appear before the bureau and she was detained by anti-graft body. She was arrested with her cousin, Yousaf Abbas, while attempting to visit her father at a jail in Lahore, where he is being held after being convicted of graft.

Maryam is one of the few opposition figures to openly criticize Prime Minister Imran Khan and Pakistan’s powerful military, accusing them in recent weeks of censoring rallies and press conference held by her party.
