Mumbai’s dabbewalas present Marathi gifts to baby Sussex

NPnews24 Online mumbai: While the Royal affairs of Britain’s royal family have a huge fan-following across the globe, Mumbai’s much-acclaimed dabbewalas (tiffin service providers) do not lag behind in sharing the craze.

As the Duke and Duchess of Sussex Prince Harry and Meghan Markle were recently blessed with a baby boy, the dabbewalas have sent a gift to the newborn baby Archie.

“Prince Charles is our friend, and he has become a grandfather. So we have become grandfather too,” said the spokesperson of the Dabbawala Association Subhash Talekar.

He added, “Just as we present gifts to our grandchildren in Marathi culture, we have sent the gift to the new Royal baby as well.”

The gifts purchased include a belly ornament, a leg ornament, bangles and necklace, traditional ornaments that Marathi families adorn their babies with.

“We have added an idol of Lord Hanuman in the necklace, as he is the symbol of strength and intellect. We want Archie to absorb these characteristics,” Talekar stated.
