Mumbai: Strict action against bursting firecrackers on Diwali

Mumbai : Corona patients suffer from major respiratory problems. Firecrackers have been banned in Mumbai on Diwali, as they are likely to lower their oxygen levels and be bothered by smoke from firecrackers. Only in the evening on the day of Lakshmi Puja, in private premises, small firecrackers are allowed. Strict action will be taken jointly by the Municipal Corporation and the police in case of violation of the rules.
Caution is needed as corona is highly contagious. With this in mind, it is mandatory for the citizens to observe social distance, wear masks in public places, wash their hands regularly with soap and so on. On the evening of Lakshmi Puja, it is permissible to set off firecrackers in private areas.
