Mumbai Police Constable fined Rs 50,000 for abusing autorickshaw driver

NPNEWS NETWORK – The State Human Rights Commission (SHRC) has imposed a penalty of Rs 50,000 on a constable of Mumbai Police, who had abused an autorickshaw driver in 2017. The Director General of Police’s (DGP) office has been instructed to pay the amount, which will be deducted from the salalry of the policeman Jagdish Patil.

The incident had taken place on April 5,2 017, at Virar police station. Auorickshaw driver Ramesh Patil had gone there to collect his licenses which was impounded when he had fight with a passenger. Constable Patil had abused the driver who recorded video on his phone.

He had complained to the senior police officers but Constable Patil was let off with a warning. The driver approached the SHRC and submitted video as evidence.

The commission’s acting chairperson M A Sayed passed order in favor autorickshaw driver and imposed the fine.
