Pune Traffic Police to be on night duty till 2 AM

NPNEWS NETWORK – In order to reign in drunk drivers and bring fatal accidents in control, the traffic branch of Pune city police will be on night duty till 2 am.

Increasing population, increasing number of vehicle traffic, has become increasingly critical in the city. Apart from this, Metro and development works are going on some major roads and traffic control is required.

On this backdrop, the Traffic Police Branch has given a new schedule for its staffs. Accordingly, the work has been divided from morning to midnight. The maximum attention will be given to traffic rules from 9.00 am to 1 noon. After that, the pending penalty of cases registered by the CCTV will be done through the PTP action, from 2 pm to 5 pm. From 6 pm till 9 pm, cops will ensure smooth traffic flow, while from 9 pm to midnight there will be action against drunk drivers.

In case of midnight 12 to 2, action will be taken against the private passenger vehicles which are parked on roads, as per municipal law. The penalty is high under the municipal law.

The new rules have been brought on the instructions of Police Commissioner Dr K Venkatesham and DCP (traffic) Pankaj Deshmukh.
