Modi 2.0 serious about forming ‘All India Judicial Service’?

Npnews24 online : Prime Minister Narendra Modi while addressing a function to celebrate the completion of 50 years of Delhi High Court on October 31, 2016, sought a debate on creating the All-India Judicial Services.

Government believes that AIJS will help promote federal governance. Law ministry begins a ‘consultative process’ to involve stakeholders to discuss the proposal. But In the huge debacle, seven states, including BJP-ruled Madhya Pradesh and Arunachal Pradesh, had opposed the formation of an all-India judicial service, a 60-year-old proposal.

Several states, including Himachal Pradesh, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, and Nagaland also do not favor formation of AIJS.In a long note again, Narendra Modi government has pushed this move before forming new government, Law ministry Ravi Shankar Prasad initiated process in Jan 2019 for creation of AIJS.

With some of the argument in favor of and in against of, AIJS will be conducted by Union Public service commission. But with divergence of opinion among state governments and respective high courts on constitution of the All India Judicial Service (AIJS). All the students from judicial background are gossiping on formation of AIJS, and tremendously insisting to Modi 2.0 government through different ways for the creation of service.

Also long drawn absence in the upper house of parliament will create a debacle for making amendments in the constitution.
