Zoramthanga got into power after 10 years. He now emerged as the Chief Minister of Mizoram for the third time. Earlier he was CM for 2 decades from 1998 to 2008.

In the recently held assembly elections, Congress’s P Lal Thanhawla has to accept shocking defeat, who was CM of Mizoram five times.

Mizoram had registered 75 percent polling this time. To get majority in the state, it was necessary to get 21 seats. A total 209 candidates were contesting election in Mizoram.

At present, the Congress has 34 MLAs (Member of Legislative Assembly) in Mizoram. Exit poll had said that any party will not get majority in state, and MNF proved it wrong.

Congress had fought tooth and nail to win from Mizoram. As it was the last state in Northeast India, where Congress government was in power.

This was the battle in between following main political parties- Mizo National Front, Congress, Zoram People’s Movement (ZPM), and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Mizoram.
