The special girl was enrolled at Aksharsparsh Nivasi Matimand Vidyalaya in Pune and later admitted to Sassoon General Hospital has died after battling for her life. The victim’s family said that her body had deep marks of assault and she had not given medicines for a month. The girl was suffering from seizures and her health had become worse due to the lack of medication on time. The girl died at 11 am on August 21 who was under an observation.

Vaishnavi, 16-year old girl was brought about two and a half months ago in ‘ Aksharsparsh Nivasi Matimand Vidyalaya’. When family members came to meet her, they were stunned to see that the situation of the child had become even worse. After this, she had to be admitted to Sassoon Hospital for treatment.

NP News reporter had first broken this story by doing a sting operation last month on April 31 where the reporter had come to know that the Children living in the mentally retarded school in Dhankavdi Area of Pune were in very bad condition.

According to the allegations, children at this Vidyalaya got beaten for small matters and they were not even getting food on time. ‘Aksharsparsh Nivasi Matimand Vidyalaya (Workshop)’ is the school for mentally challenged children whose parents are not financially capable of their upbringing. It is justified that the institution gets the good donation, but the care of children has not been taken.

Police and Sassoon administration were adopting an irresponsible attitude towards the case. When the victim’s family tried to file a complaint against the institution in Sahkarnagar police station, the police avoided saying that until the hospital or the social welfare department do not issue any letter, we cannot take action.

While the hospital said that until the police do not come to inquire about it, we cannot provide medical reports. At the same time, the Social Welfare Department was saying that police can register a case of assault.
