MILEX – 18 Excercise focuses on counter terrorism drills

The inaugural BIMSTEC Multinational Military Field Training Exercise called MILEX-18 is underway at Aundh Military Station with effect from 10 September 2018 and will conclude on 16 September 2018.

As part of the ongoing Exercise which has reached its fifth day of joint training, a lot of ground has been covered by the participating nations. Detailed lecture cum demonstrations / discussions on Cordon and Search Operations (CASO), Raid on a terrorist hideout, Intelligence gathering & sharing, Perception Management, Humanitarian Law, Human Rights, Hostage Rescue etc. have been covered so far.

In addition, today the troops carried out specialised joint training which included Jungle Lane Shooting practice comprising of different types of targets i.e. standing, sliding and flip which pop up as the troops move through a thick jungle lane.

The participating contingents also carried out a specialised training on Hostage Rescue by slithering from MI-17 helicopters. Room intervention drill was also carried out by Participating Nations.

The Joint Exercise will culminate on 16 September 2018 at Aundh Military Station with a Validation Exercise and a Closing Ceremony for which the Chief Guest will be Dr Subhash Bhambre, Hon’ble Raksha Rajya Mantri.

The Exercise so far has been successful in increasing the bonhomie & camaraderie amongst the participating nations. The troops also shared best practices being followed by respective countries with respect to Counter Terrorist Operations in a semi-urban backdrop. In the evenings they played games and organised friendly competitions.
