Ganesh Chaturthi 2018 : 126 kg Modak made for Dagaduheth Ganpati

Shreemant Dagdusheth Halwai Ganapati is pride and honor of Pune City. Devotees from every part of India and the world come to pray to Lord Ganapati here every year. Arriving of Lord Ganesha has created an atmosphere of enthusiasm among the people.

Various kind of Prashad like Apple, Mangoes, Laddos and other Sweets are offered to Lord Ganesha every year. On the occasion of completion of 126 years and to make Ganesh Chaturthi more special, this time a 126 kg modak to be offered to Lord Ganesha at Dagadusheth Halwai Ganapati Temple.

The modak has been made using Dry Meva, dry fruits and silver leaf (vark). Due to the fulfillment of his vow, a devotee has offered this Modak.

The 126 kg Modak is made by Kaka Halwai. After offering the Naivedyam to Lord Ganesha, it will be distributed as Modak Prasad among the devotees.

Dagdusheth Ganpati Temple, has a 75-year-old tradition of making replicas of historic temples across the country on the occasion of Ganesh Chathurthi. This year they set-up, a 100 ft by 100 ft replica of the 11th century Brihadeeswara temple, Thanjavur. And the festivities will last for ten days.

The gesture shown by the trust is quite commendable and it shows the twin purposes which are: The first purpose is it creates an atmosphere of friendship, cooperation and mutual respect among people. The public festivities bring together people from different caste and communities so that they can work and worship with devotion without any hesitation.

And the second purpose is that other aspect is by erecting models of other temples from across India, they provide a chance for the local people to appreciate our rich culture and heritage bound together by the same religious belief.
