#MeToo Effect : Sajid Khan quits direction of ‘Housefull 4’

The MeToo campaign in Bollywood has created a sensation. After veteran actors, director Sajid Khan has been accused of sexual harassment. Accepting moral responsibility after allegations against him, Sajid Khan has left the direction of ‘Housefull 4′. Actor Akshay Kumar also canceled the shooting of this film.

Assistant director Saloni Chopra, actor Rachel White and journalist Karishma Upadhyay has accused Sajid Khan of sexual harassment and abuse. In 2011, Chopra had acted as assistant director in one of Sajid Khan’s films. Sajid tweeted, “In the wake of the allegations against me & the pressure being put on my family, my producer n the stars of my film Houseful4, i must take the moral responsi-bility of stepping down from my directorial post, till the time i can allay the allegations and prove the truth.. I request my friends in the media to kindly not pass judgment till the truth is out.”

Meanwhile, actor Akshay Kumar has also requested the makers to cancel the ‘Houseful 4’ shoot after this incident. Akshay has written that, ‘I’ve just landed back in the country last night and reading all the news has been very disturbing. I’ve requested the producers of Housefull 4 to cancel the shoot until further investigation. This is something that requires stringent action. I will not work with any proven offenders and all those who have been subjugated to harassment should be heard and given the justice they deserve.”
