Man killed in Katraj as friend didn’t return saving money

A 30-year-old man was allegedly murdered by two persons on Monday night in Katraj, after his friend had failed to return saving scheme (vc) money.

The deceased has been identified as Chandar Gobariya Mudawat, a resident of Sainagar, Katraj. His wife Laxmi (28), who was also injured in the attack, has lodged FIR against the accused persons with Bharati Vidyapeeth police station.

The accused persons detained by police are Ramu Mudawat of Sukhsagarnagar and Dashrath Mudawat of Gokul Nagar, Katraj.

According to police, the incident took place around 9.30 pm on Monday at deceased’s house. “My husband Chandar, my sister Sharda and myself were eating dinner when the accused persons came to our home. They abused my husband as his friend had failed to return vc money. They assaulted Chandar with a stick and sharp weapon. When I intervened they attacked me also, and then my sister also”, Laxmi stated in her complaint. Both women are injured.

After getting information about the incident, senior officers including ACP Shivaji Pawar (Swargate division), senior police inspector Vishnu Pawar, inspector (crime) Vishnu Tamhane and API S P Yadav visited the spot.

Police have charged the accused persons for offences under sections 302 (murder), 326 (assault), 506 (intimidation), 504 (insult), 34 (common intention) of the Indian Penal Code.
