Man dies in road accident days before sister’s wedding in Nashik

Nashik: A man died while his sister was left seriously injured after a truck hit their two-wheeler on Tuesday. The incident happened on Samrudhi highway near Vavi village in Sinnar Taluka of Nashik district.

The deceased, identified as Valmik Somnath Lande (32), resident of Rendale, taluka Yeola, and his sister Varsha Balasaheb Sudke (24) were returning to Pathre village on their two-wheeler (MH 15, DW 3710) with shopping bags, as Varsha was supposed to get married on February 28, the police said.

The police arrested the driver of the truck and registered a case against him.

According to the police, the two-wheeler was hit by a dumper (MP39, H2907) on the Samrudhi Highway near Vavi village near Hotel Pahunchar. The two were left seriously injured and rushed to the hospital. But, Valmik was pronounced dead by the doctors upon arrival. Varsha is undergoing treatment.

The dumper that caused the accident belonged to Samrudhi contractor Dilip Buildcon and the driver was under the influence of alcohol, eyewitnesses said.

Assistant Police Inspector Sagar Kote, Constable Prakash Gawli and Dashrath More rushed to the spot and arrested the driver.
