Man dies in mishap after dropping daughter at Shivaji Nagar police ground for recruitment

A man who had dropped his daughter at the ground and was crossing the road to drink tea, was hit by a speeding vehicle, and died on the spot. (Pune Crime Accident News)

The deceased has been identified as Suresh Sakharam Gavli (55), a resident of Nashik. Suresh Gavli is an autorickshaw driver. He had come to Pune with his wife and 22-year-old daughter on Sunday at 10 pm. They spent the night on the footpath outside the police headquarters in Shivaji Nagar since they did not have any relatives in Pune.

He took his daughter at the gate of the ground at 4 am and went to drink tea after informing his wife. After walking some distance, when he was crossing the road, he was hit by a speeding vehicle. He was seriously injured.

His wife Reshma was standing at a distance and she saw the mishap. Many locals arrived on the scene. However, Gavli lay in a pool of blood and died on the spot.
