Jammu Municipal Corporation has changed the name of two crossroads of the city. The City Square of Jammu will now be known as Bharat Mata Chowk. Apart from this, the name of Circular Road Chowk has also been changed. Circular Road Chowk has now been renamed as Atalji Chowk. New identities’ boards have been installed at both these squares. However, many people are opposing this move of JMC and many people are supporting it.

Senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader and JMC Deputy Mayor Purnima Sharma said that I had put a resolution in the General Assembly about four months ago, in which the name of ‘City Square’ was changed to ‘Bharat Mata Chowk’ on the demand of the public.
