IT spending on work-from-home (WFH) infrastructure to touch 19% in 2021

New Delhi: The coronavirus induced lockdown has given enterprises new normal operations. The enterprises have started with work-from-home (WFH) business taking. However, it’s been battling to arm the remote workforce with secure devices and collaborative solutions for maximum productivity. The IT industry has spent on enabling work-from-home (WFH) infrastructure, it is expected to touch 19% in 2021, marking a 27% increase, a new report said on Thursday.

The major challenges faced by an enterprise in the WFH era are security concerns (75 %), productivity losses (67 %), team management (34 %) and the need for a greater number of technical devices (45 %), according to the new CIO survey insights from CyberMedia Research. The issues of ITs are lack of knowledge about co-workers’ availability and location is a major concern, disconnect between business process and communication applications (52%) and loss of business to lack of reachability (43%).

To make WFH operations smooth, IT expenditure on WFH is predicted to increase further in the next year. Education and healthcare verticals are going to see maximum increase in spend on collaboration, the findings showed.

Anil Chopra, VP-Research and Consulting, Cyber Media Research (CMR) pointed out, “Every organization must learn to adapt to the new normal and explore the right collaboration tools that drive efficiency, enable seamless communication, and are secure and reliable at the same time.”

Thomas George, President stated, “Most of the organizations are looking for accelerated adoption of digital solutions during their process of recovering and reimagining the business and its operations. However, this may vary, depending on the sector, but the reality is that there will be adoption of digital solutions that can reduce operational costs during the next normal”. The sectors for essential products, such as pharmaceuticals are increasing their connectivity by hyper localizing their supply chains and creating stronger collaborative relationships with suppliers by building their digital capabilities, he added.
