India Allows Use Of Cheap Steroids For the Treatment Of Corona Patients

New Delhi: The Union Health Ministry has released a revised protocol for the treatment of Corona patients. It is for doctors treating Corona patients. According to the protocol, the government has allowed the use of the inexpensive steroid drug dexamethasone to treat corona.

This drug will work as an alternative to methylprednisolone and will be used to treat patients with moderate and severe symptoms. It will be used for patients who are on oxygen support.

This drug has been in the market for more than 60 years. Recently, a team of researchers from the University of Oxford used this drug on more than 2000 patients suffering from corona infection. This led to 35% fewer deaths among patients being treated on ventilators. The World Health Organization says that this drug should be used only for serious patients under the supervision of doctors.
