Increase in cases of murder, attempt to murder, fraud, violence against women; criminals have a free run in Pune in 2022

Pune :  NpNews24 Online  – Pune Crime News | In 2022, the police took massive action against organised criminals under the MCOCA, but it does not seem to have helped much in reducing crime in the city. As compared to 2021, there was a huge increase in all types of crimes in 2022. It is seen that there is a big increase in cases of murder, attempt to murder, robbery, injuries, and crimes against women. Although chain snatchings have reduced, mobile phone snatchings have increased. (Pune Crime News)

Crimes of violence against women increased significantly in 2022. Cruelty against women, molestation cases, rapes increased. As many as 200 crimes against women increased by over in 2022 as compared to 2021.

Failure to prevent vehicle thefts
The number of vehicle thefts rose in the city. Even vehicles parked in Pay and Park areas were stolen. As many as 1,910 vehicles were stolen in 2022. This number was 1,502 in 2021. Looking at this, it is seen that 400 vehicle thefts increased in a single year.

2,500 crimes increased
When compared to the last two years, there has been an increase of almost 2,500 crimes in the number of serious crimes in parts 1 to 5. In 2021, 8,064 cases were registered while in 2022, 10,567 cases were registered. At the same time, there has been a decrease in action on gambling and liquor dens.
