In 40 Days, 69 Lakh People Registered For Jobs On Govt Portal But Only 7,700 Were Employed

New Delhi: Although Unemployment rate in the country is skyrocketing and the situation worsened during the lockdown, which pushed millions out of jobs across the country. Between August 14 and August 21, more than seven lakh people had registered on a portal launched by the Modi government last month. The ASEEM (Aatmanirbhar Skilled Employee Employer Mapping) portal launched on July 11 has so far seen registration of more than 69 lakh people in only 40 days.
Citing data by the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, it has reported that just two per cent of the 3.7 lakh candidates who registered on the portal have actually been employed.
The report adds that close to 69 lakh migrant workers had registered on the portal, but only 1.49 lakh were offered jobs. However, only 7,700 could join work. The Ministry added that the portal is not only for migrant workers. The list includes self-employed tailors,electricians, field-technicians, sewing machine operators, courier delivery executives, nurses, accounts executives, manual cleaners and sales associates.
