If Quarreled with Wife, will Have to Stay in Quarantine for 14 Days

Pune : In view of the increasing domestic violence cases following the nationwide lockdown announcement, Pune District Council has taken a unique decision. District Council officials have now made a rule that if any person is found involved in domestic violence cases, he will be put in a 14-day quarantine as a preliminary action. This decision has given some relief to women.

District council officials believe that the lockdown has led to an increase in incidents of domestic violence due to liquor sales ban and other reasons. In such a situation, it has been decided that if any person receives a complaint of domestic violence against him, then he will be immediately shifted to a government quarantine. For this, a monitoring committee has been formed. Along with this, the help of eminent people of the village, Anganwadi workers and women of self-help groups will also be taken, which will keep a close watch on such incidents of violence.

Helpline number 18002334130 has been issued by Pune District Council to curb incidents of domestic violence. Apart from this, a psychologist has also been arranged at the district level for counseling. Amidst the conditions of lockdown, cases of domestic violence have increased across the country. A public interest litigation filed in the Delhi High Court on Friday has called for a decision in this regard, attracting the attention of the court. In this PIL, many more demands have been made, including the introduction of a nodal officer, the helpline for the prevention of domestic violence.
