Idea gives one mobile number to two customers, FIR registered

PANAJI: NP NEWS 24 ONLINE – Goa police’s cyber department has filed a complaint against Idea cellular mobile network company for giving a single phone number to two people. This illegal act of the company has costed the customer for Rs 7.5 lakh. As his bank account was linked with the mobile number.  This is the first time that this kind of a thing has happened and it highlights the fact that two people can use one sim.

The Complainant registered a complaint about giving 2 customers the same number which is quite obvious that it is a crime and can lead to cybercrime in the world where the mobile numbers are attached with the bank accounts.

The complainant, Sheela Gawanekar, has been given a sim card which was given to another person as well. Since this number is linked to the complainant’s bank account, the person to which the other sim was given withdraw all the money from the bank of the complaint through OTP. An amount of Rs 7.5 lakh has been withdrawn from the account.

Complainant Gawanekar is from South Goa. She has registered a complaint in cyber-crime department for manipulation of documents, conspiracy and fraud.

This is the first time this kind of incident has taken place in the state. Earlier there were incidents in which fake documents were submitted and sim card was taken. But there it was not the companies fault. But in this case, it is definitely a case of companies fault.

If a SIM card is not used for a long time or it is not recharged, then it is cancelled by the company and the company is free to give it to another person. These kinds of rules are written in the form itself. The company while transferring the phone number from one person to other might have forgotten to block it from the earlier sim, and then this incident might have taken place.

Because of this negligence or mistake an idea company, the customer has lost 7.5 lakhs. Cyber department are investigating further in this case.
